Ten-year-project for Super/Hyper-sonic Transport Propulsion System (HYPR) initiated by AIST (Agency of Industrial Science and Technology) completed 1999 with the successful results. This project aim at establishing technologies for the CCE (Combined Cycle Engine), that has capability of cruise at speed up to Mach 5. Simulated altitude test of this CCE was carried out successfully including transient condition between turbofan and ramjet mode. HTCE (High Temperature Core Engine) has been tested in order to demonstrate ability of hot section to withstand at 1,700C condition predicted to reach during supersonic climb. Full size turbofan engine was tested at the open field test stand for noise evaluation following to scale model tests of various kinds of noise reduction devices in anechoic chambers. Eco-Smart Engine has been studied for stimulation of future project for research and development of the advanced SST that is environmentally and economically acceptable in trend of the world.
