In order to achieve the reduction of installation space and construction cost of flood pumping stations, an 11MW class L-shaped gas turbine with horizontal gas generator and vertical power turbine was developed. Designated LGT-01, it is based on the Rolls-Royce aero-derivative gas turbine. Technical subjects to develop the vertical power turbine were discussed and fully investigated at the design stage. Validation of these investigations and mechanical integrity were confirmed through the demonstration test which consisted of various procedures that simulate the actual operations in the flood pumping station.
