This paper reviews the current state of the art of turbine aerodynamic design with application to stationary gas turbines and aircraft engines. Current design rules and design methods are reviewed and future possibilities are discussed. Mechanical constraints and blade cooling play a large part in modern gas turbine design, these aspects are touched upon where necessary but are not discussed in detail.
