An iterative porcedure is employed for estimating erosion in axial gas turbine blades and erosion impact on blades life time and maintenance cost. The theoretical procedure is composed of three stages, firstly the gas flow is defined. Secondly the particle trajectories, velocities and collisions with component surfaces are determined and finally empirical expressions are adopted to estimate rates of material removal and blades life time. The resulting changes of surface contours can be calculated in a quasi-continuous method.
