This paper is to introduce details of the development and results of the evaluation of regenerator components with the development of seal parts as a major subject. Regenerators are indispensable as a means of reducing the fuel consumption of automotive ceramic gas turbine engines. This heat exchange system adopted the rotary regenerator, and its structure requires the development of seal parts that prevent high-pressure air from leaking into the low-pressure gas side and are provided with the function of solid lubrication. The authors of this paper have been developing the high-performance regenerators with high reliability at an elevated temperature of 1,100℃. To achieve this, the seal parts which gained flexibility by reducing the stiffness, and restrained thermal deformation by optimizing the combination and thickness of their materials, namely substrate and high-performance rubbing materials.
