A detailed description of the flow field, in terms of velocity vectors in three components during rotating stall of an isolated axial-flow rotor is the object of this work. Three axial stations were chosen, both upstream and downstream of the rotor, and the measurements taken at 21 stations over a full radial traverse for 800 circumferential points. The idea is that of representing the flow in the rotor annulus while the cell is at a fixed position. In order to do so, the measurements were synchronised with the stall cell passage. The measurements made upstream and downstream of the rotor allow to give a representation of 3D flow field putting in evidence the flow patterns inside and outside of the cell from the relative velocity components and the dissipation field in terms of kinetic energy defect.
