This paper describes the development status of Toshiba's dry low NO_x combustor (DLNC) for 1300℃ class heavy-duty gas turbines. A new dry low NO_x combustion system which follows the basic design concepts of the 1100℃ class DLNC has been developed. In this new system, 95% or more of the fuel gas is lean-premixed and burns at low flame temperature. The remaining small amount of fuel forms a swirl-stabilized diffusion flame and stabilizes the lean-premixed flame. High-pressure combustion tests were carried out. NO_x emission was reduced to less than 1/5 that of a conventional combustor in a wide operation range, while a very high combustion efficiency was maintained. It was demonstrated that the combustion flame was kept stable at all operating conditions including dynamic conditions. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the ignition and cross-firing performance was satisfactory.
