This paper presents an experimental study of the flow field inside the tip region of a axial-flow compressor rotor in near stall condition. With the help of a rotating four-axis probe traverse mechanism, the measurements were conducted using a five-hole probe. The results indicate, radial migration of the suction surface boundary layer is strong, a induced vortex forms nearby, a blade scraping vortex exists at the corner of the pressure surface and the casing wall. Strong mixing between the suction surface corner flow and pressure surface corner flow occurs at median part of the passage, which leads to substantial deficiencies of total pressure and axial velocity.
