A practical numerical method was proposed to analyze the foreign object damage of ceramics for gas turbine components. It treats the mechanical damages of ceramics as stiffness reduction and was implemented as a new constitutive model in the general purpose dynamic stress analysis program DVNA3D. Being applied to the impact tests comparing the experimental results with the numerical ones, this method was found to be effective to simulate the failure processes of ceramics.
