With a view to reducing secondary losses in rotor blades of axial compressors, a new concept of blading, i.e. forward-skewing of rotor blades was contrived, and improvement of the stage efficiency was accomplished experimentally. Detailed survey and comparison of the rotor flow fields between the forward-skewed blading and the conventional one showed several features reflecting the improved flow conditions, thus supporting the mechanism expected for the concept.
