Test operations of the AGTJ-100A pilot plant, which is a reheat gas turbine developed under a national program known as the "Moonlight Project" sponsored by the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology of MITI, were completed at the Sodegaura power plant of the Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. in July 1987. In the course of this development process, various analyses for the reheat gas turbine, the system design of the plant and the integration of the control system were carried out using dynamic simulation, since there was little pre-existing knowhow in the field of these system techniques. The results obtained from the actual engine have demonstrated the effectiveness of the development techniques applied to the system. Moreover, the efforts made to realize a close correspondence between the characteristics of the dynamic simulator and those of the actual engine system resulted in the achievement of an effective method of analysis for the characteristics of reheat gas turbines.
