The modified titanium aluminide, TiAl, with low density and high strength, was cast into turbine wheels, which were subsequently coated by the oxidation-resistant substance and brazed to rotor shafts of low-alloyed steel. The hot spin test of the turbochargers mounted with TiAl rotors has proven that they possess the unrivaled quick and sharp response and the high turbine efficiency as compared with Inconel 713C or Si_3N_4 ones.
