For the development of a coal-gasification combined-cycle plant, it is necessary to develop superalloys having an excellent high-temperature fatigue strength and good hot-corrosion resistance. Considering these circumstances, a single crystal superalloy is being considered. In this study, high-temperature properties, such as fatigue strength, creep rupture strength and corrosion resistance of single crystal superalloys were experimentally investigated and compared with those of conventionally cast and directionally solidified superalloys. As a result, it was found that single crystal superalloys showed better strength and better resistance than those of conventionally cast and directionally solidified superalloys. For example, compared to a directionally solidified superalloy, they showed advantages of about 20〜40K in blade design. It was also found that specimens machined from solid blades showed the same creep rupture strength as those machined from solid bars.
