Full coverage film cooling is one of the most effective methods protecting the surface as gas turbine blade exposed to a hot gas stream. Most of the studies of full coverage film cooling have been focused on the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness, but, in fact, the temperature of the test plate must be affected by the condition of the back surface because the matter to be cooled is made of a good conductor of heat as metal. In the present study, the air jets were impinged on the back surface of the test plate and injected from holes as a coolant for film cooling. The film cooling effectiveness with impinging jets was about 1.7〜2.8 times as great as that for the adiabatic condition. The equation of three-dimensional thermal conduction in steady state was numerically solved and the film cooling effectiveness was calculated. The agreement between the experimental results and predicted ones was very well.
