This paper describes the operating results of the 1,090MW gas-steam combined cycle power plant, which Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. adopted for Higashi-Niigata Thermal Power Station No.3 Unit. The plant consists of two trains, each of which combines three sets of gas turbines and heat recovery steam generators with one set of steam turbines. A gas turbine burns gasified LNG as fuel with gas firing temperature of 1,154℃, the world widely highest temperature now in service. The first train of 545MW was put into commercial operation in December, 1984 and the second train of also 545MW started operation in October, 1985. The whole plant of total 1,090MW under commercial operation has contributed to a great extent to the company's policy of energy saving and efficient operation of the overall network systems by high thermal efficiency and excellent operatability.
