This study was to develop uncooled ceramic stator vanes capable of bearing high temperatures for application to the first and second stage stator vanes for the turbines for the 1300℃ turbine inlet gas temperature class. From the viewpoint of thermal-stress-reducing, a ceramic stator vane of hybrid construction was established as desirable. The main ceramic parts was divided into three parts for the airfoil and the inner and outer shrouds. These were tightened with metal shrouds and a metal core having cooling holes. On the manufactured model vanes strength tests were carried out to confirm their solid strengths as construction bodies. It was confirmed that they were not broken at strength test which simulated the mechanical force during operation. In addition, the ignition and fuel shutoff operations were repeated of 50 times under gas temperature conditions between 250℃ and 1400℃ at atmospheric pressure. After this heat cycle test, the stator vane was sound. Consequently significant progress was made toward the practical application of ceramic stator vanes to industrial gas turbines.
