This paper discusses the gas turbine and the steam turbine combined cycle provided with two combustion chambers in which two step heating is performed. Coal was used as the fuel of the cycles with two forms of coal and coal gas. Combinations of heating styles (direct and indirect) of actuation gas and two combustors produce 4 kinds of combined cycles and this 4 combined cycles are examined and compared with each other in details. As the result two step heating combined cycle with coal fired atmospheric fluidized bed combustor (indirect heating) and coal gas firing combustor (direct heating) was selected as the best. The reasons are, (1) The cycle has very high thermal efficiency as a coal combustion combined cycle, (2) Coal gasification and De SOx and De NO_x processes of conventional methods are compatible.
