The authors present an instance of using an over-expansion hydrogen gasturbine in a waste heat application cycle, taking advantage of distinctive characteristics of hydrogen fuels. The cycle realized significant improvement of exergy efficiency, an indicator of total applied energy inclusing waste heat recovery. An specific power almost as high as that of conventional cycles was also attained. In addition, the cycle realized optimum efficiency operation at a relatively low maximum pressure even during high-temperature running. And inherently clean hydrogen gas exhausts make it possible to arrange the working area into one system.
