Aiming at the application of low-calorific fuel gases to industrial gas turbines, two-staged combustors lined with ceramic fiber refractory were manufactured for trial, where a cyclone furnace with pressure loss as small as possible and a plug-flow reactor of distributed air-induction type were employed for primary and secondary combustion chambers, respectively. The characteristics of combustion and flame stabilization were studied, and the adaptability to gas turbines was examined. As a result, fuel gases with lower heating value down to ca. 2.4MJ/<m_N>^3 could be successfully burnt under the environmental inlet condition, if the primary equivalence ratio is set at 1.1. The conversion rate of ammonium into nitrogen oxides was ca. 16% for a primary equivalence ratio of 1.1, when ammonium less than 5000ppm was added to the fuel gas. The specific combustion load was about one third of that of industrial gas turbines if the specific pressure loss was kept at a level of practical use.
