Cement is produced from natural raw materials such as limestone, clay, silica, iron and gypsum. In recent years, it began to use waste and by-product instead of natural raw materials. The characteristic of cement recycle is that the waste and the by-product can be recycled while manufacturing cement. And even if dioxin is contaminated in waste, it can be decomposed in cement rotary kiln because of high temperature at 1450℃. Total quantity of using waste and by-product in cement industry is 30.9 million ton and quantity rate of waste and by-product per cement one-ton production is 423kg in 2006. Waste and by-products that are mainly used are blast furnace slag, coal ash, sludge, by-product gypsum and contaminated soil. As chlorine from waste and by-product causes trouble in cement operation, Chlorine bypass system is established which removes chlorine from cement kiln. Recycle systems of incineration residue from municipal waste are established. One is ecocement which main raw material is incineration residue. It is new cement that is registered in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS R5214). Another is Ash washing system that removes chlorine from fly ash using water. AK system is a new system that ferments municipal waste in applied kiln before cement production.
