• With the rebuilding of its wooden schoolhouse originally constructed in 1937, Uguisuzawa Elementary School has been designed as an "eco-school" by taking into consideration the opinions of local residents. Many aspects of the building equipment and facilities are designed to reduce the school's environmental footprint, such as by adopting an illumination control system that utilizes sunlight in classrooms. As it is an environmentally-friendly building, the school can be also used for environmental education.
