The status and future trend of high temperature materials for land-based gas turbines are reviewed. The primary concerns in the material aspect of land-based gas turbines are the development and application of high temperature materials for advanced high temperature gas turbines. They include the directionally-solidified and single crystal alloys, coatings and advanced materials such as ceramics. Also, the life time assessment study of hot gas path components is progressed for the existing gas turbines, based on the material degradation and damage analysis.
