Turnouts in continuous welded rails (CWR) have a lot of advantages for the railway operation such as a reduction of track maintenance, cuts of noise and vibration by passing trains, and improvement of comfortable train service. Although axial force of rails in turnouts has been already analyzed and generalized, alignment irregularities have been occurred in turnouts in the CWR especially in winter or low temperature seasons. Therefore I tried to make some easy formulae and to do some experiments in order to know movement and performance of turnouts by axial force of rails. In the result of this investigation, it is revealed that alignment irregularities would be occurred in turnouts in the CWR under the some degrees of temperature depending on the type of turnouts.
