TIG arc welding is widely used for welding aluminum alloys. However, for welding thin aluminum pipe, it is important to control welding parameters to produce uniform welding bead. This research studies the intelligent welding process of aluminum alloy pipe 6063S-T5 with the AC welding machine. The system uses image processing algorithm for visual sensing and neural network model for modifying welding speed. From the experimental results it shows that the image processing algorithm worked well and provides the input for neural network control. The result of experiment with control shows that the back bead width is in the range of 5±1mm with the standard deviation of 0.53mm.
