As a framework to perceive health (well-being) state of humans, the World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed the concept of the "functioning" at 2001. The functioning, which indicates the whole of human living such as states and behavior related to health, is hierarchically described from three viewpoints, which are different each other in terms of a spatio-temporal scale, i.e., the perspective of the body, the individual, and society. Corresponding to these perspectives, the functioning is composed of three levels, i.e., the body functions and structures, activities, and participation. hierarchical structures. This study is directed towards gaining a theoretical understanding of relationships between levels in the functioning prescribed by the ICF. This paper focuses on the hierarchical structure of the functioning from a viewpoint of dynamical systems theory. I hypothesize that a relationship between a higher and lower level is that between constraints and dynamics. This study deal with walking as an example function. According to the hypothesis, the walking system was modeled ; the level of body functions and structures and the level of activity could be described as dynamics and constraint. This model shows significant expansion of its adaptability to condition changes. This suggests that the hypothesis was demonstrated in walking.
