Variety of acid phosphates and their amine salts which have different carbon number and side-chains were tested under low sliding speed and low pressure conditions. From friction test with these additives, it is determined that long chain acid phosphate or amine salt show lower friction, coefficient of friction depends on sliding speed at low speed region and high viscosity reactant is observed on test piece surfaces after friction test. Additionally contact condition becomes elastic because test piece surfaces after friction test are very smooth by chemical reaction and mechanical removal action. These results show that lubrication mechanism under low sliding speed and low pressure condition with acid phosphate is explained by EHD lubrication.
