The construction of gauge invariant operators in gauge theories on non-commutative spaces is reviewed. The role of the gauge invariant operators associated with open contours in the construction of gauge invariant locally conserved energy momentum tensors and in the loop equations for non-commutative Yang-Mills is explained.
