• This paper presents a version of the U-shaped Assembly Line Balancing Problem and an associated heuristic solver where parallel stations are used to accommodate tasks with processing time greater than the cycle time. Computational results for the heuristic applied to problems created from industry standard test sets show that the heuristic performs well when compared to optimum solution bounds.
