One of the biggest problems the university English education now faces is how to motivate students. English taught in university required English classes is usually considered to be in the range of English for General Purposes (EGP), and it often fails to motivate university students, who have already studied EGP for six years. By addressing the motivating and facilitating roles of English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) in place of EGP, this paper attempts to suggest the need for developing English textbooks that are tailored for specific learners' needs. As a concrete example of the suggestion mentioned above, this paper also introduces a project of developing the English textbooks specifically tailored for economic, business, and commercial majors.
