120日齢のコマーシャルChinese partridgeの2群は,2006年6月に消耗性疾病を伴う死亡率の増加が認められた.死亡鶏では,主に腺胃,肝臓や脾臓の彌慢性腫大が認められた.組織学的検査では,しばしば細胞分裂像をともなった未熟なリンパ球の集積が,腺胃,肝臓,脾臓,腎臓,心臓,肺臓,胸腺や小腸を含む種々の組織において認められた.細網内皮症ウイルス(REV)は,検査した4羽の血液サンプルから分離された.蛍光抗体法により,血液サンプルを接種された鶏胚線維芽細胞においてウイルス抗原が検出された.PCRによりREV LTRの300bp断片が,6羽の肝臓サンプルから得られた.細網内皮症は,これまでChinese partridgeにおいて報告されてこなかったが,Chinese partridgeは,他の中国地鶏への感染源になりうるかもしれない.
