On the occasion of Quarter-ton International Yachting Race, which was held in the adjacent seas of lzu Syoto (Islands), Oct. to Nov. 1978, the Japan Hydrographic Association published the Off-shore Yachting Chart titled "Tokyo Wan to Omae Saki (including Miyake Sima and Mikura Sima)" at the scale of 1:500,000 (Lat. 35°). This was the first Yachting Chart published in Japan. The second chart of this series titled "Omae Saki to Sio-no-Misaki" was issued adjoining to the first one with the same scale. In 1979, the series of Coastal going Charts for Yachts and Small Crafts was planned to issue. This series consists of two charts cover the area of Zyo-ga-Sima to E-no-Sima at the scale of 1:30, 000 and has recently published. Those series are made in small size (48×32cm), printed in multicolour on both sides, and finished with water proof. We explain the process of planning and compilation of those two series and study the future problems.
