On phenomenological grounds, an attempt is made to answer the two open questions on the harmonic oscillator quark model. It is shown that the answer to the first question, which is related to the appearance of the Roper resonance at a mass considerably lower than that predicted by the harmonic oscillator quark model, lies in the modification of the harmonic oscillator quark model. The second question, which concerns the many undiscovered resonances, is shown to be answered by the phenomenological regularity of N^*-N-π coupling constants.
