• Locomotor pattern is controlled by central pattern generator (CPG). However, the mechanism of CPG modulation in the nervous system has not been investigated because of the absence of the measurement for the network activity comprehensively. In this study, I focused on the ventral nerve cord (VNC) of the earthworm, that is composed of repetitive segments. Then, the neural activity of the network was measured using extracellular electrophysiological recording and imaging with a fluorescent dye (FM1-43) that stains synaptic sites comprehensively with the activity dependent manner.
