Many Chinese learners of Japanese have studied English as a foreign language in junior and senior high school. For these learners, there are many cases in which the meaning of borrowed Japanese words are known or assumed through the knowledge of the sound of the original from the word. Therefore it is a great help in the acquisition of Japanese language to grasp the method of Japanization of English. Japanization of English is produced through three patterns, from the relation of single sounds, use of syllables and by duplicating the English accent. In this paper, the author shows examples of English phoneme and its relation with Japanese 'kana' through examples of borrowed words.
