The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectual method of teaching in design based on the result gained from Designer's Week Student Exhibition in which the Hokkaido Tokai University has exhibited for the past 4 years. This paper recognizes the importance of workshop activities (making of actual things) in design education and discusses about its effectiveness. The study concludes that in design education, the workshop activities should be introduced in the early stages of designing process.
