We study the symbolic calculation of moments of queue size and waiting time for an M^X/G/1 queue by using Mathematica, which is a software with functions for symbolic formula manipulation. We can calculate algebraically the moments of any order from the probability generating function of queue size distribution and the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of waiting time distribution with first-come first-served discipline and nonpreemptive last-come first-served discipline.
