The intent of this report is to find out the factors influencing the rate of occupational satisfaction for rural youths engaged in farming at home farm. Three main groups of factors are considered as : (1) materialistic and mental factors within home farm, (2) social materialistic and mental factors independent from home farm, (3) knowledge, character and the physical condition of the youths themselves. 2. There is wide range of the rate of satisfaction of the rural youths. In general, common factors which cause general dissatisfaction to rural youths are follows : (1) Instability of agriculture in the future, (2)A general trend of occupational contempt towards agriculture, (3) Scarcity of cultural and recreational facilities compared with urban areas, (4) Gup of income between rural community and urban society. The above factors are regarded as social materialistic and mental factors. However, these factors may not directly influence the rate of occupational satisfaction. 3. There are several other factors which indicate highly significant differences in the rate between satisfied and unsatisfied rural youths. In addition, it is noted that the unsatisfied youths showed a much severer attitude on the following as compared with those who seem satisfied with the status quo. The other factors influencing the rural youths satisfaction or dissatisfaction are listed as follows : (1) Low living standard because of a low income, (2) Small-scale of farm land, (3) Lack of pocket money and labor remuneration, (4) Lack of confidence at the parents side as to the ability and opinion of their sons, which seems to have a strong detrimental bearing to future improvement of farm management and home life, (5) Lack of volition for farm management at the parents side. The factors mentioned above are materialistic and mental factors contained in home farm and these may have an indirect connection with social materialistic and mental factors, knowledge, character, and the physical condition of the youths themselves. It may be concluded that these factors have a direct influence on the rate of occupational satisfaction.
