The management of farm woodlands is strongly controlled by farm management. Therefore, it needs special principles which differ from other forestry. The following principles are fundamental. 1) Before the forest plan is prepared, the broader objectives of the overall farm plan must be determined. 2) In many cases, farm woodlands are managed for various purposes, so they have to be divided into some units. 3) In determining the annual or periodic cutting and amount of timber one should consider profits of other sections in farm management. 4) In determining location and timing of cutting and method of operations one should consider the utilization of equipment and labor in farm management. 5) Operation records and financial records in farm woodlands are more important than other forestry. They are useful in looking over all farm management and forming a basis for effective distribution of resources.
