This paper looks at Right-dislocation in SOV languages, where verbs and functional category suffixes are canonically located in clause final position. Unlike the case in SVO languages, such ancillary information adds a 'cost' to lookahead processing, and is typically associated with intonation shifts and pragmatic interpretation. In Khakas, Turkish, Japanese and Korean, various discourse-functions are seen to follow from this phenomenon.
