The quadrupole giant resonances in the oxygen isotopes have been investigated in terms of the Hartree-Fock calculations and the random-phase approximations. It has been seen in the nuclei with neutron skin that the average excitation energies are lowered from the standard mass number dependence and that the neutron mode excitations lie below the main isoscalar excitations. It has also been seen that there is no proton-neutron correlation in the neutron mode excitation. The RPA calculation with the bound state approximation has the shortcoming that it may not be able to reach the convergence for the unstable nuclei. Therefore, there is a need for more sophisticated method (continuum RPA, for example) to compare the results, though an overview of the characteristics of the neutron skin must be unchanged.
