Mixed-symmetry 2^+ states of ^<54>Cr and ^<56>Fe have been investigated by means of the inelastic scattering of 65MeV polarized protons. The cross sections and analyzing powers for the 2^+ states were measured and compared with microscopic DWBA calculations using the Paris-Hamburg effective interaction and wave functions based on a large-scale shell model calculation. The DWBA calculations fit the cross section data very well. The results comfirm the validity of the shell model prediction, that is, the 2^+_3 and 2^+_4 states of ^<54>Cr and the 2^+_2 and 2^+_4 states of ^<56>Fe have the mixed-symmetric character.
