Late Devonian Radiolarians from the Rudny Altai, Russia

Two radiolarian assemblages, the Trilonche guangxiensis and Ceratoikiscum sp. aff. Ce. Avimexpectans assemblages, were obtained from the horizons close to the mass extinction event in the Rudny Altai, West Siberia. The assemblages are assigned to the late Frasnian (early Late Devonian) or early Famennian (late Late Devonian) on the basis of comparison with other known assemblages. The taxonomic composition suggests that faunal change took place in the horizon between the Tr. guangxiensis and Ce. sp. aff. Ce. avimexpectans assemblages with diversification of Ceratoikiscum and reduction of Trilonche. This faunal change most likely corresponds with the Late Devonian extinction event.
