The study consisted of degree students enrolled in Child Care and Development programs. It investigated the comprehension of disorders in correlation to direct experience with people with disorders, and to prior curriculum on disorders. Consequently, significant correlations were not noted. The results also suggested that what was learned through relations with people with disorders was not practical, and subsequently did not provide a proper method of support for children with disorders. In the future, Child Care and Development program curriculum should instruct on the characteristics of individual disorders, and provide strategies for practical methods of support for children with disorders.
