For a promotion of Environmental Protection, MQL missions are put in practice widely over the manufacturing factories. The quantity of oil flow for the MQL is only a few ml/h at most. Due to these small flow rates, the ordinary measuring technology cannot cope with the condition. The misted oil feeding and intermittent oil droplet supplying method, so-called "Oil & Air", are applied for MQL. The measuring method for the oil mist with the optical spatial filtering has already been reported but as for the latter, a practical technology is not developed yet. So, the stability of flow rate of the oil & air system is left out of view. Here a new technology with the standing wave pattern of microwave as the spatial filtering lattices is shown for the intermittent flow of Oil & Air. The amplitude-modulated signal with the standing wave has frequency components according to the velocity of the droplet passing through the spatial pattern of half wavelength. And the absorption of microwave power is proportional to the volume of droplet, therefore the product of the amplitude and the frequency may agree with the flow rate. This report treats the feasibility to infer the flow rate from the spatial filtering method by the standing wave of the microwave. The experimental results with the actual flow are described. And a simplified detective device for the intermittent oil flow with microwave is developed. Its sensitivity of 10 μl/shot is confirmed with high stability.
