Wood planks have economical advantages in comparison with timbers with large dimensions, since these are usually taken from low-quality or curved logs and consume relatively fewer energy for drying. It is also appreciated that these have no drying cracks unlike timbers with pith. This paper reports on the structural systems made of such economical planks. Even if planks have weak mechanical properties, composing them with nails or screws disperses their defects, enables divers dimensions and realizes different kinds of structural systems. Three proposed structural systems made of such stacked planks, panels, frameworks and curved surfaces, are presented with the examples of application.
