The angular distribution of photoemission from gold thin films was studied in this paper. A theoretical model of angular distribution was first developed. Experimental measurement was then carried out from a simple set-up. The measured angular distribution was in good agreement with theoretical calculation. It was found that a cosine function can be generally used for the angular distribution from metallic thin films. The results of this study can be used in designing a multiple electron-beam lithography system based on thin film photocathode technology.
