In this paper, two conventional asymmetry compensation algorithms and the proposed four-sampled zero crossing algorithm are analyzed and compared based on high-speed optical drive system. The proposed algorithm using zero crossing point is designed to achieve high speed operation and enhanced reliability. By simulation, we show that the proposed method exhibits 34% improvement of jitter performance, 50% reduction of compensation time and more than 1.5 dB of Bit Error Rate (BER) gain compared with other algorithms.
