• Pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are known for their significant antitumor activity, have been isolated from the aerial parts of Heliotropium marifolium Retz. Five alkaloids, namely heliotrine (0.083%), lasiocarpine (0.141%), europine (0.125%), lasiocarpine-N-oxide (0.009%) and indicine-N-oxide (0.012%) were identified on the basis of chromatographic behaviour, melting points and spectral studies.
