RI-cisternography (RIC) with <111>^In was performed for studying cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation on 90 patients of occlusive cerebrovascular disease (OCVD). Of 90 patients CT-cisternography (CTC) with metrizamide on 19 patients and CBF study with Novo Cerebrograph on 21 patients were also performed. All of the patients except for one patient with major stroke, about 70% of patients with minor stroke or TIA, and about 30% of patients with infratentorial OCVD showed abnormal findings of CSF circulation. Subarachnoid block at the acute phase and focal RI retention at the chronic phase were characteristic, and another findings such as diffuse RI retention, ventricular filling, slow RI elevation and quick RI diffusion were also noticed. Ventricular filling was clearly studied with CTC and intraparenchimal metrizamide stasis of brain was also noticed in some patients, however there was discrepancy of findings between RIC and CTC. At the acute phase subarachnoid block of RIC finding was consistent with the finding of focal reduced r-CBF, however there was discrepancy of findings between RIC and CBF at the chronic phase. The mechanism of appearance of disturbed CSF circulation in the patients of OCVD was discussed. And correlation between OCVD and normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) was also discussed.
