The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the Personal-activity approach on learning Russian language, learning activity and development of a student's personality. In the first experiment we compared the Personal-activity approach with the grammatical approach. In the second experiment we observed the psychological changes of learners for one semester, with the purpose of proving the effects of the Personal-activity approach on the development of a student's personality. Consequently, the results of the first experiment indicate that Personal-activity approach has significantly increased speech competency, and furthermore, different approaches have different effects on the studying attitudes in a classroom and contents of home studying. The results of the second experiment showed changes in self-concept to some extent. Our two experiments, however, have remained within the limits of this pilot study. Next study we should enlarge the scale.
